The following photo essay "HALF LIFE" was created as part of my photographic diploma thesis in 1997 in Berlin (sponsored by the AGFA company).

It deals with the subject of "physical disability" in its various facets and shows people with physical limitations from birth, but also disabilities caused by illness or accident. It is about showing how people of different ages and social backgrounds deal with their individual fate; about disability in the field of tension of basic human needs and desires. The photo "Happiness" won 3rd place in the worldwide photo competition "Images of Health and Disability" of the WHO (World Health Organization) in 2003.
